Technologies getting wet: Tidal | DAY 2 | 10:30-11:45am

André Pacheco (AP) is a physical oceanographer, coordinating the Marine Offshore Renewable Energy Team at the Centre for Marine and Environmental Research from University of Algarve, Portugal. He is currently Principal Investigator of two projects related with tidal energy: (1) Exploring new concepts for extracting energy from tides (funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology FCT- IF2014); and (2) SCORE – Sustainability of using Ria Formosa Currents On Renewable Energy production (funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology FCT – PTDC/AAG-TEC/1710/2014); and task leader of MONITOR -Multi-model investigation of tidal energy converter reliability (Interreg Atlantic Area 2017). Until now, AP and his co-authors published 24 papers in peer review journals, 14 with AP as first author. More than 25 abstract were published on conference proceedings and his papers were presented on the most rated international conferences on coastal processes. AP also accumulates the position of being CIMA – Centre for Marine and Environmental Research – Vice Diretor, at University of Algarve and H2020 Earth Observation evaluator at the European Comission.
