Chris is a marine scientist and leader in development of Canada’s ocean economy. With a Bsc from Wales, a PhD from Newfoundland, he has worked in France, Newfoundland and British Columbia.
Trained in biology, he been a leader in research, education and consulting in marine aquaculture, seafood and ocean technology development.
As a founder of Canada’s marine renewable energy association, he has led a strategy and built an alliance of industry, governments and utilities to ensure that Canada is a leading player in the emerging renewable ocean energy opportunity. Canada’s Bay of Fundy tides will power some of the world’s first steps to industrial development of tidal energy in projects that have engaged the leading international players.
Having passed leadership of Marine Renewables Canada to a younger generation, he remains engaged in the sector as a strategic advisor.
