Chief Technical Officer (2015-)– Ocean Energy – a technology development company working in the field of offshore renewable energy, developing floating wave energy devices.

Emeritus Beaufort Professor, University College Cork (UCC), Ireland

Currently Co-PI in Science Foundation Ireland funded Centre for Marine and Renewable Energy (MaREI) in UCC.

Formerly Professor of Energy Engineering, UCC, and Academic Director of Beaufort Research having overall responsibility for the Academic Programmes in Energy Engineering and Sustainable Energy until end of 2013.

He has special competence in ocean energy development, maritime systems and offshore engineering, maritime civil engineering, laboratory tank testing and field measurements in the marine environment.

Responsible for the establishment of the 4500 m2 Beaufort Research Building in 2015 which houses the LIR National Ocean Test Facility containing large scale test infrastructure for marine renewable energy as well as the SFI funded MaREI Centre.

Coordinating Lead Author (CLA) for the Ocean Energy Chapter (6) in Special Report on Renewable Energy (SRREN) for IPCC (2011).

Alternate Delegate for Ireland to IEA-OES (2003- 2015).

A founding Board Member of the Ocean Energy Europe.

Proposal Evaluator for the European Commission for R&D projects in marine renewable energy and energy systems under FP4, FP5, FP7 and H2020 programmes.
